Two Basketball Courts Created, Urethane Flooring Installed, Colorful Design... Accelerating 'Anyangcheon Outdoor Sports Facility Expansion'... Tennis Court Construction to be Completed Within the Year

Anyangcheon Sinjeonggyo Basketball Court Renovation and Repair Underway

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The rusty and worn basketball court located under Sinjeonggyo Bridge along Anyangcheon Stream is being reborn with a clean and renovated appearance through repair and maintenance work.

Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) announced that it has been selected for the 'Seoul, Let's Exercise' social contribution project, a public-private partnership between Seoul City and Adidas Korea, and is currently carrying out maintenance of the aging sports facilities along the Anyangcheon riverside.

The 'Seoul, Let's Exercise' campaign promotes various sports environment improvement projects such as repairing and renovating aging public sports facilities and jointly developing community sports programs to establish a healthy sports culture and expand residents' interest in recreational sports.

With this project selection, Yeongdeungpo-gu designated the Sinjeonggyo basketball court, which had low usage due to aging facilities and a loess soil floor, as a repair target and began construction on the 11th. The repair work will take about a month and is planned to be completed by early November.

Through this improvement project, two basketball courts covering an area of 900㎡ will be newly created.

Additionally, ▲the loess soil court, which posed a high risk of injury, will be paved with urethane ▲the floor surface will be expressed with trick art to create a lively place that appeals to younger generations.

Furthermore, safety equipment such as fences and protective pads will be additionally installed, transforming the basketball court into a comfortable and pleasant space.

Meanwhile, the district also announced that it is steadily promoting outdoor sports facility expansion projects such as the 'Anyangcheon Comprehensive Sports Belt Development' project.

Following the completion of adult baseball fields, little league baseball fields, park golf courses, and artificial turf soccer fields by the first half of last year, the construction of a hard court tennis court, which began on the 26th, is also planned to be completed within this year.

In 2021, a multipurpose artificial turf field was created at Anyangcheon Reed 3 Field, and other convenience facilities were also maintained to complete the improvement project.

Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, “We are making every effort to secure national and city funds as well as private resources to create a pleasant and safe recreational sports environment,” and added, “We will continue to improve aging recreational sports infrastructure through cooperation with private companies and related organizations.”
