[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] FC Seoul defender Kim Nam-chun (31) was found dead, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
The Songpa Police Station in Seoul announced on the 30th that Kim Nam-chun was found dead in the parking lot of a building in Songpa-gu at around 8:20 a.m. that day.
A police official stated, "Further investigation is needed regarding the specific circumstances and process of the death," adding, "We plan to hear statements from related players and the bereaved family."
The Seoul club also said, "We received the news of Kim Nam-chun's death this morning," and "The club is currently investigating the circumstances."
Meanwhile, Kim Nam-chun, who graduated from Kwangwoon University and joined Seoul in 2013, played exclusively for Seoul except for his military service at Sangju Sangmu from 2017 to 2018.
Last year, he successfully extended his contract with Seoul until 2022, and despite the managerial changes this season, he played as a regular, appearing in 22 matches.
