SUV with High Space Utilization
Stable Off-Road Driving Capability
Suitable for Leisure Activities like Camping and Car Camping
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] The all-new Land Rover Defender is gaining attention in the domestic market for its high space utilization as a sport utility vehicle (SUV) and its driving performance that covers both on- and off-road conditions.
In particular, the Defender's charm shines in off-road environments. The Defender is recognized as a vehicle suitable for leisure activities such as car camping and camping due to its stable off-road driving capability regardless of harsh terrain or weather conditions. To achieve this, Land Rover conducted extreme tests more than three times tougher than those for previous vehicles in environments such as deserts exceeding 50°C, the Arctic below -40°C, and the Colorado Rocky Mountains at altitudes over 3,000 meters.
The new Defender is equipped with a suspension system that optimizes off-road performance while providing excellent handling sensitivity. The 4-corner air suspension can raise the vehicle body up to 145mm in extreme situations, with a maximum wading depth of 900mm.
When the seatbelt is unfastened, the air suspension automatically lowers the vehicle body by 50mm compared to normal height to assist safe exit. Additionally, a wading depth detection feature that uses sensors to measure water depth and displays it on the infotainment system is standard across all trims.
The powertrain features an Ingenium 2.0ℓ 4-cylinder diesel engine delivering a maximum output of 240 horsepower and a maximum torque of 43.9 kg·m. The design preserves the silhouette of the original Defender with elements such as a side-opening tailgate and exposed spare tire, while being reinterpreted to fit recent trends. The Defender model is sold in three trims, with prices including a 5-year service plan package as follows: D240 S trim at 85.9 million KRW, D240 SE at 95.6 million KRW, and D240 Launch Edition at 91.8 million KRW.
