[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Saeng-hye] Dongwon F&B has partnered with LG Electronics to collaborate on leading digital trends in the home meal replacement (HMR) market.
On the 29th, Dongwon F&B announced that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for a ‘Cloud Service for Automatic Cooking of Convenience Foods’ with LG Electronics at the LG Electronics Signature Kitchen Suite showroom in Nonhyeon-dong, Seoul. Key officials including Kim Jae-ok, CEO of Dongwon F&B, and Song Dae-hyun, President of LG Electronics H&A Business Division, attended the signing ceremony.
Through this agreement, both companies will cooperate on ▲joint development of optimal cooking solutions for HMR using smart home appliances ▲online commerce platforms such as Dongwon Mall and LG ThinQ ▲and joint marketing efforts.
Dongwon F&B has applied optimal cooking algorithms for 23 products including ham, dumplings, and porridge to LG Electronics’ microwave ovens. This allows easy and delicious cooking of representative Dongwon F&B products such as Richam and Yangban porridge, as well as various products from the air fryer-exclusive HMR brand ‘Cuisine’ through LG microwave ovens. Dongwon F&B plans to expand the range of applicable products and develop exclusive brand products in the future.
LG Electronics provides a service that links the ThinQ app with cloud servers to automatically cook convenience foods without separate operation of the oven. When the product barcode is scanned with the camera, the optimal cooking method and time are automatically set on the oven, making it easy for anyone to use.
Kim Jae-ok, CEO of Dongwon F&B, said, “This business agreement is a meaningful opportunity to accelerate the digital transformation of the food industry and lead the digital trends of the future home meal replacement market. We will continue to collaborate with LG Electronics to grow further as a comprehensive food company that provides differentiated customer experiences and value.”
Song Dae-hyun, head of LG Electronics H&A Business Division, said, “We will continue to strive to provide convenience to customers with smart home appliances that have LG Electronics’ unique differentiated functions.”
To commemorate this business agreement, Dongwon F&B and LG Electronics will hold a special promotion for two weeks from the 29th of this month to the 11th of next month, offering Dongwon F&B’s convenience food products at discounts of up to 53%. The promotion can be accessed through the LG ThinQ store.
