Yeosu Coast Guard's Swift Response to Consecutive Emergency Patient Incidents

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu Maritime Police Station announced on the 30th that on the morning of the 29th, emergency patients occurred simultaneously in the Yeosu jurisdictional sea and island areas, and all were safely transported to land.

According to Yeosu Maritime Police, at around 10:03 a.m. on the 29th, a report was received that an emergency patient occurred on a fishing boat operating 3 km south of Geumil-eup, Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do, and a patrol boat and a coastal rescue boat were immediately dispatched to the scene.

The emergency patient A (66, male) was a crew member of vessel B (Yeosu-registered, 7.93t, coastal trap, 4 crew members) and was working on board when he suddenly showed hemoptysis and lethargy symptoms, making it difficult to move. After the situation was reported, A was transferred to the maritime police patrol boat that arrived in about 30 minutes and handed over to the 119 ambulance team waiting at Nokdong Port around 11:50 a.m.

Meanwhile, at around 10:06 a.m. on the same day, on Geumo-do, Nam-myeon, Yeosu City, a small excavator working there fell into a 4-meter-deep stream, causing C (43, male), who was working, to suffer injuries suspected to be fractures in the waist and right leg.

Yeosu Maritime Police dispatched a coastal rescue boat and handed over the emergency patient to the 119 ambulance team at Dolsan Gunnae Port, Yeosu City, around 10:54 a.m. Then, at around 4:37 p.m., another emergency patient with respiratory distress occurred on Geumo-do, Yeosu City, and was quickly transported within about 30 minutes.

A maritime police official said, "When an emergency patient occurs in island areas or on board, immediate reporting is necessary to avoid missing the golden time," and added, "If the exact location is unknown, using apps like Haerod can be more effective."
