Most Areas Except Jeju Receive Low Rainfall

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] For the first time in 30 years, Seoul recorded 0 mm of precipitation in October.
The Korea Meteorological Administration announced on the 30th that the precipitation in Seoul this month was 0.0 mm, and the number of days with rainfall of 0.1 mm or more was zero.
Except for Jeju, the October precipitation in major cities was much lower than the average. Chuncheon recorded 0.1 mm this month, far below the average of 44.3 mm, and the same was true for Gangneung with 0.6 mm (average 110.4 mm), Incheon 1.9 mm (53.4 mm), Daejeon 3.2 mm (47.4 mm), and Jeonju 4.2 mm (53.5 mm). In particular, Seoul, Incheon, Gangneung, and Chuncheon recorded the lowest October precipitation since nationwide statistics began in 1973.
On the 1st of next month, rain is expected to fall in most parts of the country for the first time in a while. The Korea Meteorological Administration forecasted that the country will be mostly cloudy, with rain starting in the northern Gyeonggi and northern Gangwon Yeongseo regions in the morning, spreading to Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, Gangwon Yeongseo, the west coast of Chungnam in the morning, and expanding to Gangwon Yeongdong, inland Chungnam, Chungbuk, and Jeolla Province in the afternoon. Accordingly, Seoul is expected to receive 0.1 mm or more of rain for the first time in 32 days since September 30.
