[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Jongno-gu (Mayor Kim Young-jong) held the 'Thanks to You Ring Donation Event' on the 29th at the Hanuri Hall of the district office.

This event was an occasion to present silver rings specially made by jewelry industry workers in the Jongno area to the quarantine officials who have worked hard for COVID-19 prevention, expressing gratitude.

The event was organized by the Korea Jewelry Society (CEO Kim Sung-ki), which was launched in 2015 to facilitate knowledge exchange and communication among young jewelers in the region, with a membership of about 300.

Like other industries, they have faced many difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, but they carefully crafted the 'Thanks to You Ring' to convey their appreciation to those dedicated to the frontline of local quarantine efforts.

The ring is engraved with a sign language gesture meaning "We respect you," the words "Thanks to You," and a mask shape embedded with a tiny diamond.

Additionally, the mask is represented in a helmet-shaped design, and inside the ring, the Taegeuk mark symbolizing the exemplary K-quarantine worldwide and the word KOREA are inscribed.

The recipients of the rings are 65 members of the Jongno-gu Quarantine Team. They consist of 55 Saemaul leaders and 10 community leaders, who held their inauguration ceremony at Hanuri Hall in February this year and have since begun full-scale activities.

Mayor Kim Young-jong said, "I extend my deep gratitude to the Jongno-gu Quarantine Team members who have worked tirelessly on the frontlines of COVID-19 prevention to stop the spread of infection. I also want to thank the industry workers who willingly took part in producing and donating such special rings." He added, "Jongno-gu will prioritize residents' safety and health and make every effort to alleviate residents' anxiety and prevent the spread of COVID-19."
