Busan City to Make This Year's Premium Busan Fireworks Festival a 'Kill', Others to Be 'Quarantine Festivals' to Survive
Establishing Festival Models Suitable for the With-Corona Era... Support Measures for Performance Technology Industry Also Establis
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The 'fireworks' go out, and the 'tree' is lit. What will happen to Busan's autumn and winter festivals facing COVID-19 for the first time?
Busan City announced on the 30th a summary of festivals until the end of this year that can be safely enjoyed in preparation for the autumn and winter resurgence of COVID-19.
The biggest disappointment is that the prestigious fireworks festival that decorated Busan's night sea will not be held. The '2020 Busan Fireworks Festival,' which was about to hold its 16th event this year, has been canceled. It was scheduled for November 7, but given the ongoing COVID-19 situation, holding a large-scale crowded festival posed a significant risk of infection spread and was a heavy burden in terms of quarantine conditions.
The city plans to establish a festival model suitable for the With-Corona era and strengthen event content to hold a new and more developed festival next year.
There are also festivals that have 'survived.' To revitalize the local economy and maintain festivals in Busan during the COVID-19 era, the city plans to hold the remaining second half festivals?'The 5th Busan Original Downtown Alley Festival,' 'The 13th Busan Port Festival,' 'The 12th Busan Christmas Tree Culture Festival,' and the '2021 Citizens' Bell Ringing Ceremony'?normally by establishing phased quarantine rules and event safety management plans.
Earlier, Busan City deliberated on ways to hold the second half festivals, including the fireworks festival, through more than ten expert meetings and countermeasure meetings.
Since the COVID-19 situation is difficult to resolve in the short term, a new standard and method will be derived through a paradigm shift in festivals.
Considering the difficult situation of related performance technology industries due to the cancellation of large-scale festivals, Busan City plans to establish support measures for affected industries and ensure that the remaining second half festivals are held smoothly while complying with core quarantine rules.
