The 4th Korea Youth Day Festival ‘Change starts here!’, celebrating the designation of Youth Day as a legal commemorative day, will be held on October 31 at the Peace Plaza in Olympic Park, Bangi-dong, Songpa-gu, Seoul.
The event will begin with a flash mob to the song ‘Dreams come true’ by 4Minute, followed by various programs including an overseas youth quiz competition, youth startup awards, youth policy contest, youth housing, vocal and dance auditions, and a Hanbok popularization project. Additionally, there will be a variety of informative booths and experience centers such as academic advancement, employment, and career programs to meet youth needs, a youth policy promotion hall, and a flea market. A celebratory concert for the designation of Youth Day will also be held featuring popular singers such as Chungha and Monday Kiz.
The Youth Day Festival was first proposed in 2016 by the nonprofit organization Youth and Future, and the first Youth Day was held in 2017 hosted by Youth and Future, with annual events continuing through 2019.
This year, National Assembly members Lee Won-taek and Park Soo-young have been appointed as mentor chairpersons for the Youth Day Festival, and over 100 prominent figures from various fields, including ruling and opposition party lawmakers, are participating as mentors and advisory committee members.
The 4th Youth Day Festival is hosted by the nonprofit organization Youth and Future and supported and participated in by 33 institutions and organizations including the Office for Government Policy Coordination, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Unification, Ministry of National Defense, Ministry of the Interior and Safety, and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, with sponsorship from KB Kookmin Bank and Flyers.
Jung Hyun-gon, chairman of Youth and Future, stated, “2020 can be called the year of youth.” He added, “With the passage of the Youth Basic Act and the designation of Youth Day as a legal commemorative day this year, many changes will begin, and Youth Day will be the start of that.”
The event will be held free of charge from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the special stage in the Peace Plaza of Olympic Park. Due to COVID-19, standing is not allowed and seating will be assigned. Entry is prohibited without wearing a mask. Detailed information about the event content can be found on the Youth and Future website.
