Geumcheon-gu Opens Seoul's First Smart Solution Anchor on 29th... 400-Pyeong Facility in Siheung-dong, Hub of 857 Fashion Manufacturers in Seoul... Establishes One-Stop Smart Manufacturing Innovation System from Design Consultation to Product Production
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] On the 29th at 10:30 AM, Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) held the opening ceremony of the Seoul Fashion Smart Center Geumcheon Solution Anchor.
The opening ceremony was successfully held with the attendance of about 50 local clothing manufacturing industry stakeholders, including Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, Chae In-mook, City Council Member, Kim Ui-seung, Director of Economic Policy at Seoul City, and Jo Eul-hyun, President of the Geumcheon Fashion Association.
The Seoul Fashion Smart Center Geumcheon Solution Anchor was established on the 2nd floor of West Valley in Siheung-dong, Geumcheon-gu (5, Siheung-daero 57-gil), where 857 fashion manufacturing companies are concentrated, with a size of 400 pyeong (total floor area 1247㎡).
The space was designed by gathering opinions from small fashion clothing manufacturers and consists of an automated cutting room with an efficient flow, a shared equipment room, an education room, a startup space, a mask manufacturing facility, and office space.
The district plans to operate the center so that small manufacturers in need can use advanced equipment, which is in high demand, free of charge.
Additionally, the Geumcheon Solution Anchor is equipped with Korea's first one-stop smart manufacturing innovation system based on IT solutions, enabling everything from design consultation to product production in a one-stop process.
Going forward, the district plans to support local small fashion clothing manufacturers centered around the Seoul Fashion Smart Center Geumcheon Solution Anchor, carrying out various support activities such as job creation through employment and startups, and computer pattern making.
Meanwhile, Geumcheon-gu has a concentration of subcontracting companies producing high-end brand products because it was home to the Guro Industrial Complex, the center of the clothing manufacturing industry that played a leading role in Korea's export industry since the 1960s.
Even now, clothing manufacturing remains the primary major business in the district, continuing the tradition of craftsmen with excellent skills in processing high-quality clothing.
Mayor Yu Seong-hoon said, “With the opening of the Seoul Fashion Smart Center Geumcheon Solution Anchor, we expect it to greatly help improve the competitiveness of local clothing manufacturers and open new sales channels,” adding, “We will spare no comprehensive support such as infrastructure and market development for the leap of the local specialized fashion and clothing industry.”
