Seongdong-gu Social Enterprise Flea Market 'Soyoung's Market' Operates Online and Offline

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seongdong-gu (Mayor Jeong Won-oh) will simultaneously operate the social economy and young small business owners' cooperative event "Soyoungssi Market" both offline and online from November 2 to 21 for 20 days.

Launched in May last year, "Soyoungssi Market (Social and Young Creator Culture Market)" is Seongdong-gu's representative cultural market where local residents, social enterprises, social ventures, young and women entrepreneurs, and small business owners come together to purchase the value of social enterprises.

With handmade markets, experience booths, food trucks, and cultural performances, it has been operated as another festival venue for local residents with various programs including enjoyable shopping, playing, and eating for the whole family.

This year, it will be held as a "SEMI-TECT" style flea market combining face-to-face and non-face-to-face events.

For the face-to-face event, more than 60 social economy companies and organizations such as Good Neighbors, Beautiful Store, and Fair Trade products can be purchased directly at "Soyoungssi Store," a social enterprise select shop in Seongsu-dong, and a "DIY Mask Strap Making" experience program will also be conducted.

As a non-face-to-face program, an online special exhibition selling social enterprise products will be prepared through the "Soyoungssi Market Online Mall," and an "Unmanned Exhibition Hall" will be operated in front of the "Soyoungssi Store" yard by installing sculptures and billboards promoting products from participating companies to encourage store purchases after experiencing brand stories and products.

In addition, various events such as giveaways, free shipping, and discounts are prepared.

Jeong Won-oh, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "Soyoungssi Market is not simply a flea market for buying and selling goods, but a win-win place where social economy organizations and residents create social value together," adding, "I hope it becomes an opportunity to help social enterprises and local small business owners who are experiencing economic recession due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) even a little."
