Holding an 'Export Expansion Support Seminar' for Martial Arts and Mask Manufacturing Companies

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Korea International Trade Association (Chairman Kim Young-joo), in collaboration with KOTRA, announced that it held an online briefing session titled "Support for Expanding Mask Exports in Response to the Novel Coronavirus Infection (COVID-19)" on the 30th via its YouTube channel.

The Trade Association organized this briefing to support domestic mask manufacturers in exploring overseas markets following the recent government revision of the emergency mask supply adjustment measures, which lifted export restrictions. The event, conducted via YouTube Live, received enthusiastic responses from viewers, with approximately 300 pre-registrants and 200 concurrent viewers on the day of the event.

Kim Hyun-soo, Senior Researcher at the Korea Institute for International Trade and Commerce, stated, "Since China's mask production has rapidly increased after COVID-19, the export conditions for our companies are unfavorable," adding, "It is essential to establish differentiated quality competitiveness from Chinese products and to make special efforts to obtain overseas certifications to target the European and American markets."

Kim Hyo-jin, a consultant at the Trade Association’s Mask Overseas Certification Help Desk, explained in detail the types of certifications required and acquisition procedures by mask type and export destination country, emphasizing, "Testing standards and technical documents vary by export country, so it is necessary to understand these accurately."

Choi Sung-young, Export Field Advisory Committee member at the Trade Association, who presented major cases and precautions regarding mask trade fraud, advised, "Since it is very difficult to recover losses after incidents of trade fraud involving masks and other products, a cautious approach from the outset is necessary," and added, "It is important to accurately verify company information and use services from trade support organizations such as importer credit checks and export insurance to prevent losses in advance."

The video of this live briefing session is available for replay on the Trade Association’s official YouTube channel.
