[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] The European Central Bank (ECB) on the 29th (local time) kept the benchmark interest rate at 0%.
After the monetary policy meeting held that day, the ECB announced in a press release that it would maintain the benchmark interest rate at the current 0%, and keep the deposit rate and marginal lending rate at -0.50% and 0.25%, respectively.
The ECB also decided to continue implementing the 1.35 trillion euro 'Pandemic Emergency Purchase Programme' (PEPP), which was introduced in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
