[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the 29th, Kim Jong-in, the Emergency Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, who visited the Jeonbuk Provincial Council, sent a love call to Honam, saying, "We will show change through actions, not words."
At a press conference held at the Jeonbuk Provincial Council that day, Chairman Kim said, "We intend to quietly accept with a more humble attitude what role the People Power Party is expected to play."
He added, "We will strive to practically reflect policies in the budget through the Honam Budget Policy Council, and we will continue to show change through actions, not words," and said, "We will work together for the development of Jeonbuk."
Chairman Kim emphasized, "In the last general election, the People Power Party was judged for not producing a single elected member in Honam," and "after the launch of the National Integration Committee, lawmakers will try to show a different side by having a second constituency in Honam and raising development funds."
In response to a reporter's question, he said, "We will closely consult with the (Jeonbuk) governor and the local community about what they want and actively reflect it in this budget session of the National Assembly," adding, "Since Honam is in a more difficult situation compared to other regions, the responsible lawmakers will frequently come down to discuss local issues."
Jeong Un-cheon, the National Integration Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, said, "We begin the great journey for national unity here in Jeonbuk," and added, "Reflecting on how the conservative party has only pretended so far, we will now listen to voices from the field and find answers on site."
He said that accompanying lawmakers will promote ▲ sisterhood ties between local governments ▲ cooperation on bills for Jeonbuk's development ▲ budget consultations for Jeonbuk and its 14 cities and counties ▲ joint Yeongnam-Honam projects, and stated, "The People Power Party will no longer be a party that holds back but will become a pro-Honam, pro-Jeonbuk party."
