On the 29th, Hoban Group announced that it conducted the presentations and final judging of the 10 companies that advanced to the finals of the '2020 Innovation Technology Contest' at the COEX Intercontinental Hotel. The 2020 Innovation Technology Contest was held over approximately two months under four themes: ▲innovative technologies such as cost reduction ▲construction information and communication technology (ICT) ▲artificial intelligence (AI), big data, energy and environmental technologies ▲construction and smart city technologies utilizing the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
The event was attended by about 50 officials including Kwon Ki-hong, Chairman of the Win-Win Growth Committee, Han Jin-hyun, Vice Chairman of the Korea International Trade Association, Choi Seung-nam, Vice Chairman of Hoban Group, and Kim Dae-heon, Head of Planning Division at Hoban Construction.
In his opening remarks, Kwon Ki-hong, Chairman of the Win-Win Growth Committee, said, "The era when a single company could design the entire innovation process and predict the results alone is over. Moving away from the traditional vertical relationship between large corporations and small and medium enterprises, Hoban Group’s establishment of a corporate ecosystem that discovers and promotes new cooperation partners will lead not only the construction industry but also the future of our country."
A total of 307 companies and projects applied for this contest. After document screening, technical evaluation, and face-to-face judging, 10 companies advanced to the finals. The finalists showcased new technologies such as AI-based architectural design and eco-friendly painting technology free from sick house syndrome.
Small and medium enterprises or startups selected as grand prize winners in the contest will receive a total of 300 million KRW in technology development support funds and opportunities to participate in investment briefings and technical consultations. The grand prize winner will be announced in November after the final judging.
Choi Seung-nam, Vice Chairman of Hoban Group, emphasized, "We fully understand how important values such as win-win growth, mutual cooperation, and innovative technology are for corporate growth. We will discover excellent technologies and invest in innovative companies to build a network that will share the future of Hoban Group."
