[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it has added an acceleration and deceleration lane 1st lane (length 97m, width 3m) on Omun-ro in Buk-gu, adjacent to Gwangju Solomon Law Park, spending 1.2 billion KRW of city funds to reduce speed when entering and gradually accelerate when exiting to prevent traffic accidents.
In addition, traffic safety facilities such as traffic guide signs (5 locations), retaining walls, sidewalks, streetlights and street trees, traffic signals, CCTV for speeding and illegal parking enforcement, and crosswalk entrances were installed together.
This construction has improved accessibility not only for Gwangju citizens but also for external visitors, providing a safe traffic environment including traffic convenience for local residents.
The site of the former Gwangju Prison has been smoothly progressing with the construction project of Gwangju Solomon Law Park since December last year. With a total project cost of 18.7 billion KRW, a legal experience education facility will be completed in 2022 on a site of 18,947㎡, and various programs will be operated.
Chae Kyung-gi, the city’s legal affairs officer, said, “This construction has increased accessibility for visitors to Gwangju, and once Solomon Law Park is completed, it is expected to contribute to the revitalization of tourism in our region,” adding, “We will spare no effort to cooperate with related organizations until the park utilizing the former Gwangju Prison site is completed.”
