POSCO Energy Shares LNG Power Generation Expertise with Korea Power Exchange

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] POSCO Energy, which operates the Incheon LNG Combined Power Plant, is providing specialized LNG power generation training to the Korea Power Exchange, the national electricity market operator, to enhance mutual understanding of work and strengthen collaboration.

POSCO Energy (President Jung Ki-seop) announced that it will conduct an "Understanding LNG Combined Power Generation" training course for 16 employees, including staff from the Korea Power Exchange's Central Power Control Center, at the Technical Training Center located within the Incheon LNG Combined Power Plant until the 30th of this month.

This training course is structured around the operating principles and characteristics of LNG combined power generation facilities, incorporating POSCO Energy's over 50 years of power plant operation experience and know-how. In particular, the program includes not only theoretical knowledge of power plant equipment but also specialized training and site visits tailored to the work characteristics of Korea Power Exchange employees, covering emergency response methods during actual LNG power plant startups, equipment output, and efficiency analysis, thereby increasing satisfaction.

The Incheon LNG Combined Power Plant operated by POSCO Energy is a peak load power plant that produces electricity upon receiving urgent dispatch instructions when there is a shortage of power. It can respond quickly to electricity demand in accordance with the power supply and demand and electricity market operation instructions from the Korea Power Exchange's Central Power Control Center. Since the role of LNG combined power plants is very important for stable operation of the electricity market, POSCO Energy expects that this training will further enhance mutual understanding with the Korea Power Exchange and create synergy effects through closer collaboration.

Park Jin-won, Head of POSCO Energy's Power Business Division, said, "POSCO Energy, as the first private power generation company in Korea, operates diverse and systematic training programs based on over 50 years of power plant operation and maintenance know-how. We will continue to promote training that leverages POSCO Energy's strengths to collaborate and grow together with our business partners as a corporate citizen."

Meanwhile, POSCO Energy established and has been operating the Technical Training Center since 2011 to nurture employees with competitiveness in the power generation field. Next year, it plans to expand training opportunities to POSCO Group companies and business partners, aiming to establish itself as a leading power generation training center.
