[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jihwan] The Audit Committee Center operated by Samil PwC announced on the 29th that it has launched the Audit Committee School to provide practical assistance in the performance of audit (committee) duties.
The Audit Committee School offers various content through online lectures covering professional knowledge on accounting, auditing, and finance, current issues, and information for the effective operation of audit (committees).
This Audit Committee School is subdivided into an introductory course consisting of 5 lectures with certificates issued upon completion, 5 refresher courses, and an elective course of 15 lectures that can be freely taken as needed. This is an expansion and reinforcement of the existing audit committee education program that Samil PwC has been conducting since 2016, reflecting the increasing demand for audit committee education.
Since last year, all listed companies in Korea are required to disclose specific details of the education provided to individual audit committee members in their business reports, and companies with assets exceeding 2 trillion won must also disclose this information in their corporate governance reports. The importance of audit committee education is gradually increasing, as education for audit committee members is considered an evaluation factor in the governance section of the recently spotlighted Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) criteria.
The Audit Committee School is offered free of charge to audit committee members or auditors of listed companies and large unlisted companies. More detailed information can be found on the Samil PwC website.
