Gyeongsangnam-do "Implementing Special Quarantine Measures for Halloween Day"

Gyeongsangnam-do "Implementing Special Quarantine Measures for Halloween Day"

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] Gyeongsangnam-do announced on the 29th that it will conduct special inspections on four types of entertainment establishments until the 3rd of next month during the Halloween week to prevent a recurrence of COVID-19 cluster infections like the one originating from Itaewon clubs last May.

In particular, for 4,431 entertainment pubs such as clubs and room salons, which attract a young crowd, and 47 colatecs, dedicated public officials responsible for each establishment will be appointed by city and county to intensively manage compliance with quarantine rules.

The responsible officers will check whether the establishments comply with quarantine rules, and if violations are confirmed during inspections, measures such as criminal charges, fines, or business suspension orders will be taken.

According to the province, since the 11th, a focused inspection of entertainment establishments found a total of nine violations, including failure to wear masks, inadequate social distancing, and lack of electronic visitor logs. For the establishments caught, six administrative guidance measures such as on-site corrections, two criminal charges, and one administrative order (ban on gatherings) were taken.

Shin Jong-woo, Director of the Welfare and Health Bureau of Gyeongsangnam-do, said, “Ahead of Halloween Day, hotels, buffets, Changwon Garosugil, and large-scale amusement facilities are preparing various promotions and events, raising concerns about the resurgence of COVID-19. The province will coordinate with the local police agency to conduct special on-site guidance in areas expected to become crowded due to Halloween events.”
