[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] At the 2020 Q3 earnings conference call held by Samsung Electronics on the 29th, Lee Jongmin, Executive Director of the Wireless Business Division, said about the sales forecast of foldable smartphones, "Foldable smartphones are a category expected to experience high growth, and the Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold2 released this year are showing steady sales trends despite demand contraction due to COVID-19."

Executive Director Lee said, "Although foldables do not yet account for a large proportion of total smartphone sales, we plan to expand the operating price range and continuously strengthen the portfolio based on flexible display technology accumulated over several years," adding, "Sales of foldable smartphones are expected to increase every year."

Regarding the question of whether the foldable smartphone lineup can replace the Galaxy Note series, Executive Director Lee added, "The flagship portfolio is optimized according to demand and consumer needs. We will also manage foldables by considering various situations comprehensively."
