[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that it will hold public forums on the 22nd and 29th of next month on diplomatic responses to climate and environmental issues, which are closely related to the daily lives of citizens, ahead of the 'Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G)' summit.
The P4G summit is scheduled to be held in Korea next year. P4G is an international cooperation body that promotes public-private cooperation in five key areas of the green economy?water, energy, circular economy, cities, and food & agriculture?and discusses the fulfillment of international obligations.
The official name of the public forums is the 'Public Participation Project on Climate and Environmental Issues Related to the Hosting of the P4G Summit for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030.' As the host country of the 2nd P4G summit, Korea’s diplomatic roles regarding climate change and environmental issues in the international community will be the main topics.
The public forums will consist of expert presentations on the topics, breakout discussions, and comprehensive Q&A sessions. They aim to gather in-depth opinions from citizens on key issues, analyze them, and consider reflecting them in policy.
A total of 300 citizens will be selected, taking into account gender, age, and region. Citizens wishing to participate in the forums can apply by referring to the announcements on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, public diplomacy SNS (Facebook, Naver Blog), and the mobile app until the 15th of next month.
