"Leading Digital Biohealth: KT and MikobioMed Join Hands"

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT has signed an MOU with in vitro diagnostics specialist Mikobiomed to collaborate on infectious disease diagnosis and biohealth business.

According to KT on the 29th, through this agreement, the two companies will cooperate in ▲global sales in the in vitro diagnostics field ▲infectious disease projects with global international organizations ▲infectious disease diagnostic projects in overseas hub countries ▲biohealth data platform construction projects ▲joint promotion of new bio business areas.

KT established a digital and biohealth organization directly under the CEO this month to foster digital bio healthcare as a new business area, starting with infectious disease projects. This MOU signing is a significant first step toward entering the infectious disease diagnostics and biohealth sectors following the establishment of the digital and biohealth organization.

Mikobiomed is a company specializing in point-of-care testing based on LabChip technology. It covers biochemical diagnostics, molecular diagnostics, and immunodiagnostics. Not only has it secured a stable overseas distribution network by establishing joint ventures in the United States and Brazil, but it also supplied diagnostic kits to about 30 to 40 countries across the Americas and Europe from the early stages of COVID-19.

Kim Hyung-wook, Executive Director of KT Future Value TF, said, “Cooperation with Mikobiomed is expected to create a significant synergy in infectious disease response by organically combining diagnostics and movement tracking, causing a ‘lock-in’ effect that allows users to utilize a single integrated platform.” He added, “We will actively promote infectious disease diagnostic projects in overseas hub countries to enable proactive response to infectious disease spread through confirmed case management based on diagnostic data, striving to provide next-generation health services to people worldwide.”
