Chungnam, Anmyeondo Arboretum and 3 Other Sites Selected for 'Green Fund Public Offering'

[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province announced on the 29th that three sites, Nonsan Ganggyeong Hyosarang Nursing Home, Boryeong Dongdae 2 Neighborhood Park, and Taean Anmyeondo Arboretum, were selected in the Korea Forest Welfare Institute’s ‘2021 Green Fund Public Project,’ receiving a total of 1.10128 billion KRW from the Green Fund.

According to the selection results, Ganggyeong Hyosarang Nursing Home plans to complete the creation of a sharing forest, including tree planting and expansion of convenience facilities, by the first half of next year with the support of the Green Fund.

Additionally, Dongdae 2 Neighborhood Park and Anmyeondo Arboretum will use the Green Fund to create barrier-free sharing paths. Barrier-free sharing paths refer to the installation of flat deck roads (paths) without stairs to facilitate forest access for the elderly and people with disabilities.

Previously, the province has created 59 sharing forests and 4 barrier-free sharing paths since 2009 with support from the Green Fund.

Lee Sang-chun, Director of the Provincial Forest Resources Division, said, “We will strive to improve forest accessibility and enhance the emotional health and quality of life of residents through the creation of sharing forests and barrier-free sharing paths.”
