Eunpyeong-gu Traditional Market with Autumn Companion Sale

November 9th Comedian Yoon Taek, Shopping and Delivery at Yeonseo? Daejo Market 'One-Day Part-Time Job'

Eunpyeong-gu Traditional Market with Autumn Companion Sale

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] As the local economy suffers due to COVID-19, autonomous districts are taking swift action to overcome the challenges.

Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) is holding an autumn joint sale event at traditional markets in the area. The autumn joint sale, running from October 22 to November 13, features various events to revitalize traditional markets.

This autumn joint sale is hosted by the merchant associations of traditional markets and shopping districts within the region and sponsored by the Eunpyeong-gu Office. It is a project to revitalize traditional markets and boost the domestic market, which has been weakened by social distancing measures due to COVID-19.

Considering social distancing, the project includes filming promotional videos focused on non-face-to-face methods and conducting various market coupon prize events to encourage market usage.

Markets such as Daejo Market, Jeil Market, Daerim Alley Market, Yeonsinnae Shopping District, and Eungam Five-way Shopping District are participating in joint traditional market events.

In fact, the ‘Yeonsinnae Come and Play Season 2’ event held on October 23 and 24 at Yeonsinnae Shopping District was themed as an online Halloween festival.

Additionally, store introduction videos were posted on the official Yeonsinnae Shopping District blog, and customers who brought receipts over a certain amount were entered into a draw where 50 winners received prizes worth over 50,000 KRW.

As part of community contribution projects, Eunpyeong-gu and Seoul Jangsu Co., Ltd. jointly promoted ‘Dalbit Yuja’ Makgeolli.

Until November 13, Jeil Market will post promotional videos on YouTube. In particular, the market has created its own character to approach local residents as a friendly market.

Also, from 9 a.m. on November 9, comedian Yoon Taek will appear to do a ‘one-day part-time job’ shopping and delivering at Yeonseo Market and Daejo Market. The video will later be available on comedian Yoon Taek’s YouTube channel and cable broadcasts.

A market official stated, “We will give prizes usable at the market to residents who shop at the market and bring their receipts,” adding, “Various prizes are prepared, so we hope many people visit the market.”
