[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] Hankook Tire & Technology (hereinafter Hankook Tire)'s 2019·2020 CSR report won the top prize, the Gold Award, at the '2020 Galaxy Awards,' a global marketing communication competition hosted by the US-based Mercom.
Hankook Tire participated in the Galaxy Awards for the first time this year and announced on the 29th that it ranked first in the sustainability sector of the online annual report category, recognized for its world-class sustainability.
Now in its 31st year, the 'Galaxy Awards' is a global marketing communication competition hosted by Mercom in the United States. It is known as a highly credible competition where communication experts from 50 countries gather and evaluate fairly without advertisements, memberships, or external sponsors. This year, judging was conducted across a total of 15 categories including advertisements, guides, promotional videos, and annual reports.
The 2019·2020 CSR report that won the Gold Award is Hankook Tire's eleventh sustainability report, summarizing the company's sustainability management activities and achievements throughout 2019, focusing on eight major areas: customer satisfaction and quality management, integrated environmental management, climate change response, community participation and development, transparent and ethical management, employee value creation, employee safety and health management, and win-win management with partners.
Recently, Hankook Tire has been receiving favorable evaluations at prestigious global competitions, recognizing its social contribution activities and communication capabilities. It has won awards for four consecutive years in the CSR report field at the LACP evaluation, which is recognized for its credibility, and has also received awards such as the Global Standard Management Award and KRCA (Korea Sustainability Report Award).
Meanwhile, Hankook Tire is strengthening its global top-tier level sustainability management capabilities by systematically managing various activities such as social contribution and environmental management, as well as financial performance. Recognizing these efforts, it has been included in the 'Dow Jones Sustainability Index World' for four consecutive years since 2016. In 2019, Hankook Tire was the only Asian company in the automotive parts industry to be awarded the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World rating.
