[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Harry Harris, the U.S. Ambassador to South Korea, will become an honorary citizen of Seoul.
Seoul City announced that on the 29th at 3:30 PM, Acting Mayor Seo Jeong-hyeop will present Ambassador Harris with the honorary citizenship certificate at the City Hall video conference room.
Since his appointment in July 2018, Ambassador Harris has actively cooperated with Seoul's municipal administration and expanded exchanges between Seoul and its sister and friendship cities in the United States, according to the city.
Last year, at the suggestion of the ambassador's wife, Bruni Bradley, an approximately 100-pyeong urban garden was established within the U.S. Ambassador's residence in Korea, where native Korean and American crops were planted. Nearby school students have been supported to use it as a place to experience urban agriculture. Additionally, over the past two years, the U.S. Ambassador's residence has been opened during the 'Jeongdong Night Walk' festival, which allows people to experience the history and culture of Jeongdong.
Meanwhile, Seoul has signed sister and friendship city agreements with five U.S. cities: Honolulu, San Francisco, Washington DC, Los Angeles, and Houston.
