Guro-gu Completes Eco-School Project at 7 Schools Including Guhyeon High and Yeongnim Middle

Utilizing Idle Spaces at Guhyeongo, Yeonglim Middle, Gu-il High, Gu-il Middle, Gaebong Middle, Gaebong Elementary, and Oryu Elementary Schools: Creating Walking Paths, Rest Facilities, and Planting Trees and Flowers to Provide Rest Areas for Students and Residents

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) has completed the Eco-School project at seven schools in the district.

Guro-gu stated, "We are carrying out the Eco-School project to create natural green spaces on idle land within schools, providing a pleasant environment for students and residents," and added, "The projects at the seven schools selected this year were recently completed," on the 29th.

To create the 'Eco-School,' Guro-gu installed walking paths and rest facilities in leftover spaces around playgrounds and planted trees and flowers. The renovated spaces are used as resting areas not only for students but also for residents.

Guro-gu invested 1 billion KRW to carry out the project at Guhyang High School, Yeongnim Middle School, Guil High School, Guil Middle School, Gaebong Middle School, Gaebong Elementary School, and Oryu Elementary School.

Rest facilities (deck shelters and sitting walls), walking paths, ecological ponds, butterfly gardens, vegetable gardens, rock gardens, and outdoor stages were created according to each school's situation.

In addition, a total of about 7,200 trees and shrubs, including crape myrtle, plum trees, cornelian cherry, Cheongdan maple, and Ando trees, and about 2,800 herbaceous plants such as moss phlox, Korean chrysanthemum, and lilyturf were planted.

A Guro-gu official said, "Through this project, students and residents now have spaces to rest within the city," and added, "We will continue to do our best to make Guro cleaner and greener."
