Global Energy Expo 'BIXPO 2020' Online Exhibition Held

Held for 10 Days from 2nd to 11th... First Online Exhibition in Power and Energy Sector
Program Focused on SME Co-Growth and Regional Win-Win Development

[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The world-renowned energy exhibition, 'Bitgaram International Power Technology Expo (BIXPO) 2020,' will be held online for ten days starting from the 2nd of next month.

On the 29th, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) announced that due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), 'BIXPO 2020' will be conducted online and non-face-to-face from the 2nd to the 11th of next month for ten days.

Marking its 6th year, BIXPO has adopted the slogan 'Energy Transition and Digital Transformation,' the same theme as last year.

A KEPCO official stated, "This year's BIXPO will mainly focus on events aimed at promoting overseas exports of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and regional mutual development."

KEPCO, in collaboration with KOTRA, announced that it invited over 100 buyers from 24 countries across six regions, prioritizing countries in the New Southern region such as the 10 ASEAN countries and regions preferred by SMEs.

KEPCO plans to support interpreters to ensure the success of the 'Online Export Consultation Meeting,' where domestic SMEs will conduct video consultations with overseas buyers. They aim to leverage KEPCO's brand and network capabilities to facilitate export contracts.

Additionally, a 'Best Start-up Competition' will be held, providing selected startups with startup funds and opportunities to participate in renowned overseas startup competitions.

A 'BIXPO Exclusive Pavilion' will be established on JobKorea, Korea's largest job portal, to hold a job fair. This will provide opportunities to connect energy valley resident companies established in Bitgaram Innovation City with young talents.

Hwang Kwangsoo, head of KEPCO's SME Venture Support Office and overall director of the event, said, "Although BIXPO will be held mainly online this year due to COVID-19, it will demonstrate a model case of non-face-to-face exhibition culture and present the development direction of the global energy sector in the post-COVID era."

KEPCO stated that it has been cooperating with local governments and related organizations to make BIXPO 2020 a new business opportunity platform that produces practical effects beyond offline events. A 24-hour control room will also be operated during the event period.
