[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Seon-gap) received a donation of 10 million won from the social cooperative Dounuri on the 28th to help neighbors in need.

The donation delivered on this day is scheduled to be used for the ‘Hope Seed Project,’ which supports low-income families in crisis within the region.

The ‘Hope Seed Project’ is a program in which the district office, Gwangjin Welfare Foundation, and Gwangjin-gu Community Security Council utilize the Gwangjin-gu public-private cooperation fund and neighbor-helping donations to provide medical expenses, housing costs, and living expenses to families in crisis.

In particular, this project is a resident-autonomous distribution project supported through joint screening of families in crisis by district social welfare officials and case institution members. It enables integrated support linking public assistance and social resources, with officials and community members taking the lead.

Dounuri, a representative social enterprise of Gwangjin-gu, has continued donations for four years this year for the ‘Hope Seed Project,’ steadily extending helping hands to various parts of the local community in need.

Mayor Kim Seon-gap said, “I am grateful for the warm hands extended for community care despite the prolonged difficulties caused by COVID-19,” and added, “We will build a detailed support system so that all residents can maintain a stable life.”
