[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] The rookie boy group 'DRIPPIN,' which garnered attention even before their debut due to its lineup of members from 'Produce X 101,' released their first mini-album 'Boyager' on the 28th.
'DRIPPIN' is a newly launched team under Woollim Entertainment, which has nurtured Infinite, Lovelyz, Golden Child, and Rocket Punch. The group consists of seven members: Cha Junho, Hwang Yunseong, Kim Dongyun, Lee Hyup, Joo Changwook, Alex, and Kim Minseo.
The team name DRIPPIN is a newly coined term meaning 'stylish' and 'cool.' A Woollim representative introduced, "It signifies a stylish and cool group leading music, fashion, and trends."
The debut album 'Boyager' is said to be a compound word combining 'Boy,' meaning a young male, and 'Voyager,' referring to the American unmanned space probe or a long-distance traveler.
Woollim stated, "Just as the Voyager spacecraft showed a new world, the seven boys starting a new journey as artists named 'DRIPPIN' plan to show us their infinite world, which they have never revealed before, through their passion and curiosity about the world that even overcame fear."
The album 'Boyager' includes six tracks, including the title song 'Nostalgia,' produced by Full8loom. 'Nostalgia' reinterprets the original word meaning 'longing for the past' and 'homesickness,' expressing the will to return to happy memories.
On the same day at 8 p.m., DRIPPIN held their debut showcase at Blue Square in Hannam-dong, Seoul, and shared their thoughts on debuting.
Cha Junho said, "I have been waiting a long time for this debut," adding, "I am very nervous, and I am excited and thrilled about our future activities." Hwang Yunseong said, "I feel like I can break the stage," and added, "Our fans have been waiting for us, and we feel like we are receiving a gift after all our hard work to debut."
Kim Dongyun said, "Even while preparing for the debut, I wondered if it was really happening, but standing here now makes it feel real." Lee Hyup said, "I am happy to achieve what I have dreamed of, but since this is just the beginning, I will work hard with the members."
Joo Changwook said, "I am nervous and excited about debuting now, but I look forward to the memories we will create together with the members." Alex said, "I am happy to be here with my hyungs," and Kim Minseo said, "This moment feels thrilling and like a dream."
