[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Jang Jae-seong, a member of the Gwangju Metropolitan Council (Democratic Party of Korea, Seo-gu 1), stated on the 28th that after analyzing the data of Gwangju Global Motors, "The administration is conducting policies favoring large corporations by excluding local companies from the cafeteria bidding of Gwangju Global Motors (GGM), the first model of the Gwangju-type job."
Gwangju Global Motors (GGM) restricted the eligibility for the cafeteria bidding announcement on the 19th to companies with pure group meal sales of over 300 billion KRW in 2019 and companies with a credit rating of 'B' or higher within the last two years.
Councilman Jang pointed out, "The companies meeting the qualifications set by Gwangju Global Motors (GGM) are estimated to be four large companies: CJ Freshway, Samsung Welstory, Hyundai Green Food, and Ourhome," and added, "Annual group meal sales of 300 billion KRW correspond to large corporations, which is an unattainable sales scale for local companies."
He continued, "Last November, there was criticism that the bidding announcement for the construction of the Gwangju Global Motors automobile factory limited participants to construction companies ranked within the top 10 in construction capability evaluation this year, excluding local construction companies," and claimed, "Currently, this goes against the administration's efforts to encourage local company participation."
He said, "Large corporations procure the ingredients needed for meals from logistics centers in the metropolitan area, providing no benefit to the local economy," emphasizing, "Active mediation by Gwangju City, the largest shareholder, is necessary to align with the purpose of the Gwangju-type job project."
He further explained, "It is against the purpose of the local win-win job project for Gwangju Global Motors, in which Gwangju Metropolitan City has indirectly invested 48.3 billion KRW, to allow only large companies to participate in the cafeteria bidding of the automobile factory," and stated, "The bidding announcement should be revised to enable local companies to participate."
