‘Korea Leisure Sports’ Social Cooperative Founding General Meeting Held

Amid the recent nationwide interest in health and the growing demand for leisure and recreation, the Korea Leisure and Sports Social Cooperative held its inaugural general meeting on October 7th, marking its official launch.

The Korea Leisure and Sports Social Cooperative was founded by a group of promoters consisting of professors from the Department of Sports Education and the Department of Welfare Administration, as well as CEOs of advanced venture companies and sports administration experts. Elite athletes, free tennis instructors, and various leisure and coaching leaders joined as members to unite their intentions and establish the cooperative.

Since 2015, these members have continuously engaged in social contribution activities by operating nationwide sports dissemination projects for vulnerable groups such as the "Physical Development Class for People with Developmental Disabilities," "Sports Class with Dad," and "Adding Love to Youth with Free Tennis," as well as programs to restore self-esteem through sports.

There is high interest in the establishment of the cooperative with expectations that its activities will further expand.

Meanwhile, Lee Hyeju, the representative promoter and current president of the Korea Free Tennis Association, was elected as the inaugural chairman.

Chairman Lee Hyeju expressed her gratitude upon election, stating, "We will propose and lead methods for social consensus and establishment of healthy and progressive leisure activities for socially excluded groups such as women and people with disabilities in our society."

We look forward to the active role of the Korea Leisure and Sports Social Cooperative in establishing a proper leisure culture and a new solidarity of sports sharing.
