[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Nexon announced on the 28th that it will counter the increase in payment fraud crimes due to the recent activation of non-face-to-face transactions with enhanced security systems and policies.
The department responsible for preventing payment fraud is Nexon Intelligence Labs. Intelligence Labs has developed advanced online crime detection technologies including ▲AI-based data analysis ▲defense through the proprietary security solution 'PlatformShield' ▲24-hour automated monitoring, and has been applying them to online games since last September.
Nexon stated that after introducing the enhanced security system, it achieved a 93% decrease in the average monthly number of damage cases and a 96% reduction in the amount of damage compared to before.
According to Nexon, they detected fraud crimes before users became aware and directly prevented damage. Nexon plans to eradicate payment fraud crimes by equipping additional security features currently under preparation.
In addition, Nexon operates games with a principle of strict response to various illegal activities within games, including payment fraud. They will not only restrict account usage but also closely cooperate with investigative agencies to provide necessary information for apprehending criminals, actively promoting a healthy gaming culture and protecting users.
Junyong Bae, Head of Nexon Live Platform, said, "As online crimes increase due to non-face-to-face activities, we have built an enhanced security system and achieved visible results," adding, "We will continue to invest resources in developing illegal activity detection systems to provide a safer gameplay environment."
