[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] A Chinese doctor who had been battling COVID-19 with his face turned black recently revealed a remarkably recovered appearance, drawing attention.
On the 28th, the state-run Global Times and others disclosed the current condition of Dr. Li Pan, a physician at Wuhan Central Hospital in Hubei Province, China, who had been fighting the disease since January with his entire body turned pitch black and connected to an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine.
At that time, his skin turning black shocked the world.
Li Pan, who was discharged in May, has steadily recovered, and his return to his original skin color has been confirmed through Weibo and other platforms.
Li Pan revealed his face without a mask while presenting a bouquet to Wang Qian, a famous Chinese respiratory specialist, as a token of gratitude for saving his life.
Li Pan said, "Surviving COVID-19 is a miracle, and I will cherish every day of my life."
Meanwhile, Chinese medical experts analyze that the change in skin color due to COVID-19 infection was caused by liver dysfunction. Hu Weifeng, deputy head of the urology department at Wuhan Central Hospital, who also became famous for his blackened skin after COVID-19 infection along with Li Pan, passed away in June.
