Gwangju City Signs Business Agreement with AI Healthcare Companies and Associations On the afternoon of the 28th, Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City, signed a business agreement to establish a Gwangju-type artificial intelligence business foundation with AI healthcare specialist companies NeuroGen Co., Techheim Co., and the Korea Smart Healthcare Association, a non-profit organization for national health promotion, at the conference room of NeuroGen Co. in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. [Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 28th that it signed the 45th to 47th business agreements respectively with NeuroGen Co., Ltd., an artificial intelligence healthcare specialized company, Techheim Co., Ltd., and the Korea Smart Healthcare Association, a non-profit corporation established to promote public health, at the 6th floor conference room of Donggung Building in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, to establish a Gwangju-type AI business foundation.


The companies that signed the agreements agreed to actively cooperate in creating the Gwangju AI ecosystem by promoting the establishment of corporations and regional offices, and the association plans to establish an AI Smart Healthcare Comprehensive Support Center.


Attending the business agreement signing ceremony were Lee Yong-seop, Mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City; Tak Yong-seok, Director of Gwangju Information and Culture Industry Promotion Agency; Shim Ki-jun, President of Korea Smart Healthcare Association; Lee Se-hwan, Vice President; Kwon Young-hyuk, CEO of NeuroGen; Park Jong-sung, CTO in charge of technology; and Lee Won-yong, CEO of Techheim.


The Korea Smart Healthcare Association is a non-profit organization established to contribute to the activation of the smart healthcare industry and the enhancement of national competitiveness, composed of related medical institutions, industries, academia, and research institutes.


NeuroGen Co., Ltd. (formerly Infomeditech Co., Ltd.) is an AI-based Alzheimer’s dementia early diagnosis specialized company that develops and distributes scientific and precise early dementia diagnosis solutions through dementia-causing genes and brain imaging, based on artificial intelligence technology, to alleviate the difficulties of dementia patients suffering from delayed diagnosis.


Techheim Co., Ltd. is a medical image transmission and storage system (PACS) software development specialized company that provides solutions and services to more than 2,500 medical institutions domestically and internationally, including Dankook University Hospital, Bucheon St. Mary's Hospital, and public medical institutions.


Through the business agreements, NeuroGen will promote the establishment of a Gwangju corporation and office to foster experts in AI-based early dementia diagnosis, Techheim will promote the establishment of a Gwangju corporation and office to cultivate professionals in medical image processing, and the Korea Smart Healthcare Association will promote the establishment of an AI Smart Healthcare Comprehensive Support Center to activate the smart healthcare industry. They plan to actively cooperate in creating an AI-based ecosystem and generating new jobs in the Gwangju area.


The main agreement contents include ▲ technical and policy consultation for creating an AI cluster ecosystem and building a business platform ▲ cooperation in establishing the AI Smart Healthcare Comprehensive Support Center for talent development and job creation in the AI field, and promotion of new Gwangju corporations and regional offices ▲ development, operation, and promotion of various corporate support programs for AI industry ecosystem creation ▲ planning and promotion of education and employment programs for AI field professionals.


Shim Ki-jun, President of Korea Smart Healthcare Association; Kwon Young-hyuk, CEO of NeuroGen; and Lee Won-yong, CEO of Techheim said, “We plan to actively cooperate to create the Gwangju AI industrial ecosystem after the agreement,” adding, “We will especially do our best in fostering talent and creating jobs in the AI healthcare field.”


Mayor Lee Yong-seop said, “Gwangju aims to develop its four major industries?automobile, energy, healthcare, and cultural contents?by integrating AI to cultivate industries with competitiveness unique to Gwangju,” and added, “The signing of the business agreements with AI healthcare specialized companies and the association has secured momentum.”
