[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-su] Gangjin-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 28th that it has been selling Gangjin Love Gift Certificates at a 10% discount since March 16 to help local small business owners, self-employed people, and residents who are experiencing economic difficulties due to COVID-19.
Additionally, since April 1, a mobile Gangjin Love Gift Certificate linked with Zero Pay has been issued, allowing consumers to purchase and pay for Gangjin Love Gift Certificates 24/7 throughout the year using their smartphones without a wallet.
This enhances consumer purchasing convenience, and affiliated stores can convert the payment amount into cash within three days without any fees, eliminating the hassle of visiting a bank.
There are about 790 affiliated stores where the mobile Gangjin Love Gift Certificate can be used, including accommodations and restaurants. If not yet registered as an affiliated store, the representative listed on the business registration certificate can apply for affiliation through the Zero Pay website or by visiting the Job Creation Division of Gangjin County Office.
There are also points to be cautious about. Since July 2, the Act on the Promotion of Use of Local Love Gift Certificates has been enforced. If caught exchanging Gangjin Love Gift Certificates received without the sale of goods or provision of services, or exchanging certificates received through transactions exceeding the actual sales amount, a fine of up to 20 million KRW will be imposed.
Gangjin-gun is monitoring all processes of paper-type Gangjin Love Gift Certificate distribution, including manufacturing, sales, and exchange, in real time through the introduction of the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation’s integrated gift certificate management service. The system sets distribution standards to detect suspicious cases of fraudulent distribution and effectively monitors and tracks them.
County Governor Lee Seung-ok said, “Local small business owners and self-employed people are experiencing economic difficulties due to decreased sales caused by COVID-19,” and added, “I hope many residents will continue to use the Gangjin Love Gift Certificate so that the stagnant local economy can regain vitality.”
Meanwhile, the county resumed sales of paper-type Gangjin Love Gift Certificates from the 21st of last month, and as of the 23rd, about 2.9 billion KRW worth has been sold, with about 1.7 billion KRW used, contributing to increased sales for local small business owners and self-employed people.
