Bohae Brewery Launches Five Types of 'One Shot Soju' Targeting Singapore... 250,000 Bottles Exported

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Seon-gang] Bohae Brewery (CEO Lim Ji-seon) has created an export-only product called ‘One Shot Soju’ for Singaporean consumers who enjoy fruit-flavored alcoholic beverages.

Bohae, which launched the peach-flavored soju ‘Dalkom’ in Australia last March and received positive feedback, plans to target the Southeast Asian market with a more diverse range of fruit sojus.

According to Bohae Brewery on the 28th, there are a total of five types of One Shot Soju exported to Singapore.

These include the ‘Original’ (14%) flavor, which is similar in taste and aroma to traditional soju, as well as ‘Peach flavor’ (10.1%), ‘Lychee flavor’ (10.1%), ‘Green grape flavor’ (10.1%), and ‘Watermelon flavor’ (10.1%). The newly introduced One Shot Soju is packaged in the same green bottle as the existing Ipsaeju and has a volume of 360ml.

The initial supply volume is approximately 250,000 bottles, valued at about 160 million KRW.

One Shot Soju, exported to Singapore through the local company ‘COSMIC BRANDS PTE’, is expected to be distributed throughout Singapore via local convenience stores, supermarkets, and online sites.

In Singapore, the Korean drama ‘Dae Jang Geum’ aired, boosting the Korean Wave (Hallyu) fever.

Since then, interest in Korean alcoholic culture has increased, and the familiar local term ‘One Shot’ was chosen as the product name. Bohae is also in discussions with local companies regarding production and export of other flavors such as mango and green apple.

Lim Chae-hyun, head of the overseas business team, said, “Singapore is a region with a strong preference for tropical fruits like lychee, so we confirmed that many consumers are looking for fruit-flavored soju, which led to the export of One Shot Soju. Depending on the response, we are also negotiating additional exports and expansion to other Southeast Asian countries, so we expect sales growth.”
