On this occasion, we must highlight women's leadership that actively responds to community changes and seek ways to lead women as key economic actors."

Jeong Chuk-soon, Chairperson of the Women and Family Committee, said this in her congratulatory speech at the 9th Asia Women Leaders Forum held at Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Jung-gu, Seoul.

Chairperson Jeong emphasized, "The courage of leaders is crucial at this moment. The times are changing, and generations are shifting," adding, "Many people across borders are talking about a great transformation."

She continued, noting that women's leadership is gaining attention amid the COVID-19 crisis, stating that women leaders are effectively managing the crisis. She added, "While the pragmatic approach and humanitarian aspects of women leaders are being recognized, many women are facing difficulties in the job market due to COVID-19, and the gender wage gap is as high as 34.6%."

Minister Jeong said, "The long-standing issues of inequality, discrimination, and violence against women continue to affect economic growth from the perspective of national sustainability," and pledged, "The National Assembly's Women and Family Committee will make greater efforts for gender equality."
