At the 5th Asia Women Index Awards Ceremony, Kakao received the Asia Economy CEO Award in the Organizational Culture category.
[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Kakao is creating a gender-equal organizational culture by completely removing the gender entry field and photo upload section from the job application form.
Most of the policies have no gender restrictions, and the average length of service for female employees is two months longer than that of male employees.
There are no gender-based criteria in performance evaluations, and an evaluation system based on achievements is operated. Since there is no rank system, there is no promotion system. A mentoring program is being operated for team leaders without any gender restrictions.
Regarding family care, leave, sabbatical, and reduced working hours are all available and can be used by any employee regardless of gender. This year, more male employees used family care leave than female employees. Male workers also actively use paternity leave, prenatal checkup leave, and parental leave. The company operates 'Kakao Family Day' once a year. There are a total of three in-house daycare centers, the largest scale among domestic IT companies.
Through a fully flexible attendance system where employees set their own working hours, Kakao is leading the activation of flexible work. Regarding gender equality, violations are reviewed and disciplined through the Standing Ethics Committee following proper procedures. This year, two female outside directors were appointed, making half of the outside directors female.
