[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Gangnam Jevisco Co., Ltd. announced on the 28th that it has developed and is selling a 'BPA (Bisphenol A) Free' highly corrosion-resistant can coating that is free from environmental hormones.
The interior can coating, mainly used on the inside of drums containing food and various chemicals, requires technology that fundamentally blocks the release of 'BPA,' an environmental hormone that can act as an endocrine disruptor. However, such technology did not exist domestically, and the market has relied entirely on imported products.
With Jevisco's successful development of the first domestic BPA Free product, it is already replacing imported products that have been dominating the domestic market. In addition, it meets various functionalities such as excellent corrosion resistance and flexibility resistant to external impact, and complies with European Union and U.S. food container standards, making overseas market expansion possible.
A Gangnam Jevisco official stated, "By developing a BPA Free type interior coating for drums, which had relied solely on imported products until now, we have upgraded the technological capability of domestic can coatings to the next level," adding, "We will continue to strive for the development of environmentally friendly coatings with excellent performance through ongoing research and development."
