[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Joo Ho-young, the floor leader of the People Power Party, urged lawmakers to show courtesy during President Moon Jae-in's policy speech. However, he requested that they confidently speak out against hypocrisy and false statements.
On the morning of the 28th, Floor Leader Joo told lawmakers regarding the response to the plenary session, "Please observe ceremonial courtesy during the president's policy speech, but as representatives of the people, I ask you to confidently speak out against hypocrisy and false statements."
He emphasized, "After the president finishes the policy speech and exits, when the People Power Party lawmakers are offered a handshake, please convey the people's words such as 'Please listen to the people's voice,' 'Mr. President, be honest,' and 'Is this a country?'"
On that day, Floor Leader Joo did not attend the prior meeting with President Moon. This was due to security personnel restricting him when he visited the Speaker's office to attend the meeting.
People Power Party spokesperson Bae Hyun-jin met with reporters at the National Assembly and said, "Those who came saying they want cooperation restricted Floor Leader Joo from entering the Speaker's office meeting. We strongly protest this." She added, "They conducted a security check, but is there anyone who does not know that Floor Leader Joo is the floor leader of the People Power Party? This rudeness by the Blue House towards the National Assembly is unacceptable," demanding an official apology and explanation.
