Ulsan City and Social Contribution Partner Companies Deliver Quarantine Supplies to 2,100 Seniors and Disabled Individuals
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Companies in Ulsan that have pledged 'social contribution' are holding an event to deliver quarantine supplies to vulnerable citizens.
On October 28 at 2 p.m., Ulsan City held the '2020 Social Contribution Agreement Companies Joint Program Project' event titled 'Delivery of Safety Supplies to Support Vulnerable Groups Overcoming COVID-19' at the plaza in front of the City Volunteer Center inside Dongcheon Gymnasium.
Hosted by the Ulsan City Volunteer Center, about 50 people attended the event, including Kim Seok-jin, Deputy Mayor of Ulsan City, executives and employees from 21 companies that signed social contribution agreements, and representatives from supply distribution organizations.
Ulsan City and the social contribution agreement companies organized the event to help approximately 2,100 vulnerable people in the Ulsan area, such as elderly and disabled individuals, who are experiencing psychological loneliness and economic difficulties due to COVID-19.
The safety supplies consist of 10 items including masks, hand sanitizers, ready-to-eat meals (juk, cup rice), seaweed, ramen, and soy milk, which will be delivered to individual households through volunteers.
The social contribution agreement, which Ulsan City started in 2012 targeting 13 companies to promote volunteerism, has now expanded to 21 companies.
The joint program of the 21 social contribution agreement companies began in 2013 with the Low-Income Household Happy Home (Love House Repair) project. Since 2014, they have annually carried out gift box support projects for low-income families, and in 2019, they received great responses by organizing a 3-day, 2-night cultural tour of Jeju Island with 60 severely disabled individuals.
Kang Yoon-gu, Director of Citizen Communication Cooperation Division, said, "Continuous donations and social contribution activities by companies are spreading throughout the local community and becoming a major driving force in creating a safe and happy Ulsan."
