[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] The Korea Imported Automobile Association announced on the 28th that it has appointed Rene Koneberg, President of Audi Volkswagen Korea Group, as the 14th new chairman.
The newly appointed Chairman Koneberg has been leading the normalization of management through brand collaboration and organizational innovation since he took office as President of Audi Volkswagen Korea Group in 2017. He has also contributed to the revitalization of the domestic imported car market by serving as the association's vice chairman since 2018. The new chairman's term will last until March 2022.
Along with the appointment of the new chairman, Kim Jiseop, Acting President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Korea, was newly elected as vice chairman, and Jake Aumann, President of FCA Korea, was newly elected as a director.
Chairman Koneberg expressed his inauguration remarks, saying, "As I take on this important role representing the imported car market at a critical time, I will do my best for the development of the imported car industry through active communication and exchange with member companies."
The association expects that, based on the new chairman's extensive experience and understanding gained from various markets such as Europe, the Middle East, China, and Hong Kong, he will propose solutions to the challenges currently facing the domestic imported car market and seek sustainable growth strategies during the paradigm shift in the automobile industry.
