Chairman Lee Kun-hee's Funeral Ceremony Held 'Resting in Suwon'

According to Samsung, the funeral ceremony for the late chairman was held privately around 7:30 a.m. at the Samsung Seoul Hospital funeral hall in Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Family members in attendance included Hong Ra-hee, former director of the Leeum Museum of Art, Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong, Hotel Shilla President Lee Boo-jin, and Samsung Welfare Foundation Chairwoman Lee Seo-hyun.

Business figures also participated in the funeral. It was reported that the late chairman's siblings, Shinsegae Group Chairwoman Lee Myung-hee, Shinsegae Group Vice Chairman Chung Yong-jin, Shinsegae Department Store General Manager Chung Yoo-kyung, Hansol Group Chairman Cho Dong-gil, Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun, and Kolon Group Honorary Chairman Lee Woong-yeol attended.

After the funeral ceremony, Chairman Lee's funeral procession is scheduled to visit his residence in Yongsan-gu, where traces of his life remain, as well as Seungjiwon and the Leeum Museum of Art, before passing through Samsung Electronics' Hwaseong plant and heading to the family burial site in Suwon. The Suwon family burial ground is where the parents and grandfather of former Chairman Lee Byung-chul rest.
