Seoul Gangseo-gu Holds '2020 Local Autonomy Talk Concert' in Celebration of Local Autonomy Day
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Noh Hyun-song) will hold the "2020 Gangseo-gu Autonomy and Decentralization Talk Concert," focusing on autonomy and decentralization that change our lives.
October 29th is "Local Autonomy Day," established as a legal commemorative day in 2012 to raise public interest in local autonomy and share its achievements.
Although it has been nearly 25 years since the revival of the local autonomy system with the local council elections in 1991 and local government head elections in 1995, and the implementation of genuine local autonomy, local autonomy and decentralization remain unfamiliar concepts.
To commemorate "Local Autonomy Day," the district has prepared an easy and enjoyable session to understand the difficult and rigid topic of decentralization through conversations between experts and representatives of the district.
The "2020 Gangseo-gu Autonomy and Decentralization Talk Concert" can be viewed online on October 29th at 3 p.m. on Gangseo-gu Office's YouTube channel, iGangseoTV.
Hosted by professional announcer Kim Hyun-wook, the event features Jeong Jin-heon, an expert from the Presidential Committee on Autonomy and Decentralization, and representatives of Gangseo-gu residents, who will discuss "what we need to do for our neighborhood and for us to live well" in relation to decentralization.
Expert Jeong Jin-heon will help attendees understand the concept of decentralization through well-established cases and answer questions from Gangseo-gu representatives about decentralization.
Additionally, participants will discuss changes brought by decentralization using keywords such as housing, jobs, and childcare, exploring topics like "Is it possible to solve job issues through decentralization?" and "The changing educational environment through decentralization."
This live talk concert will also include a Q&A session on decentralization, allowing viewers to ask questions via comments and communicate together.
Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, "The subtitle of this talk concert is 'Autonomy and Decentralization that Change Our Lives,'" adding, "I hope this will be a time to learn the core values of decentralization where residents are the owners."
