Prime Minister Jeong: "Vaccination Timing Is Important, Please Participate Actively" Prime Minister Jeong Sye-kyun

[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun said on the 28th, "Since the timing of influenza vaccination is important, please trust the judgment of experts, pay attention to your health management, and actively participate in vaccination."

At the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters (CDSCH) meeting held at the Government Seoul Office on the same day to respond to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), Prime Minister Chung stated, "Among approximately 19 million national vaccination targets, 10.6 million people have completed vaccination as of yesterday, showing a progress rate of 56%."

Prime Minister Chung emphasized, "This year, some vaccines were exposed to room temperature and white particles occurred, and as reports of deaths after vaccination increased, some people are still hesitant to get vaccinated. The scientific judgment of experts is that vaccination must continue without interruption."

He explained, "It has been eight months since the end of February when social distancing was started to systematically respond to the COVID-19 situation. During this time, we have refined the distancing stages and behavioral standards several times in our own way, but from the perspective of sustainable quarantine, there are still many points to be supplemented. There are also criticisms that the current distancing stages are uniform and do not sufficiently consider the characteristics of places or situations."

He added, "In the 'with Corona' era, where coexistence with COVID-19 is inevitable for the time being, a more precise quarantine system that harmonizes quarantine and daily life is needed based on the experience and know-how accumulated so far. At today's meeting, we will discuss social distancing reform alternatives that reflect these considerations."

Prime Minister Chung said, "This reform plan subdivides the distancing stages, minimizes uniform facility operation restrictions, presents sophisticated quarantine standards, and focuses on increasing social acceptability. Based on today's discussion results, we will finalize the plan as soon as possible and inform the public."
