Seocho-gu Construction Site Dust Control Drone Takes Flight for Intensive Inspection

Thorough Inspection of Soil and Waste Transport Vehicle Washing, Proper Installation of Soundproofing and Dustproofing Facilities, and Compliance with On-Site Safety Management Requirements

Seocho-gu Construction Site Dust Control Drone Takes Flight for Intensive Inspection

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Seocho-gu has deployed drones to reconstruction and redevelopment sites starting from the 23rd to efficiently manage dust emissions at large-scale construction sites.

The focused crackdown targets a total of five locations, including Bangbae 5 District.

In particular, Bangbae 5 District (200,000㎡) and Bangbae 6 District (100,000㎡), both redevelopment construction sites, are adjacent large-scale construction sites where it is difficult to visually inspect detailed site conditions and enforce regulations.

The district uses drones to thoroughly check ▲whether soil and waste transport vehicles undergo wheel washing ▲proper installation of soundproofing and dustproofing facilities ▲compliance with on-site safety management measures, among other dust control efforts.

Residents from the Pureun Seocho Environmental Action Group participate, and through a public-private joint effort, drones are flown to inspect every corner of the construction sites in real time, enabling immediate corrective actions and video analysis to be actively utilized for managing other redevelopment construction sites.

A district official stated, “Conducting crackdowns by flying drones over large construction sites with frequent complaints overcomes the limitations of visual inspections inside the sites and allows efficient management without blind spots.”

Additionally, since 2018, the district has installed 'IoT-based fine dust and noise measuring devices' at 15 construction sites with frequent complaints, receiving real-time information used as enforcement data.

Especially, to enhance the effectiveness of the construction time 3-out system implemented since 2017, unannounced inspections have been conducted since August from 6 a.m., resulting in 102 violations detected, including construction time breaches.

Seocho-gu Mayor Eunhee Cho said, “We will continue to develop new projects to reduce fine dust and noise, such as the nation’s first construction time 3-out system and focused dust emission crackdowns using drones.”
