On the 29th at Kumho Art Hall Yonsei
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] Pianist Lim Yoon-chan (16), who became the youngest ever first-place winner of the Yoon Isang International Music Competition, will hold a special concert at Kumho Art Hall Yonsei on the 29th.
In the first part of the performance, Lim Yoon-chan will play Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 13 'Sonata in the Style of a Fantasy' and Piano Sonata No. 14 'Moonlight,' and in the second part, he will perform Liszt's piano suite "Ann?es de p?lerinage" Year 2 'Italy.'
Last year, Lim Yoon-chan won first place at the Yoon Isang International Music Competition at the young age of 15. He also swept three awards, including the 'Park Sung-yong Gifted Special Award' given to the most outstanding Korean-nationality performer, and the 'UNESCO Music Creative City Special Award' chosen by votes from the live audience.
The Yoon Isang International Music Competition honors the music of the world-renowned composer Yoon Isang and aims to discover and nurture promising next-generation musicians. The competition alternates annually among the cello, piano, and violin categories.
Lim Yoon-chan debuted on the Kumho Young Artists Concert stage in 2015 at the age of 11. Despite his young age, he stood out on domestic and international stages with mature and refined performances. He won top prizes in prestigious domestic competitions such as the Music Chunchu Competition and Music Journal Competition, and gained international attention by winning 2nd place and the Chopin Special Award at the 2018 Cleveland International Youth Competition, as well as the youngest 3rd place and Audience Award at the Cooper International Competition.
Lim Yoon-chan said, "When selecting the program, Italy was going through severe suffering due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). I want to convey to the audience the comfort and consolation I received from Italy."
