Dongshin University Department of Military Science Holds Relay Special Lectures Inviting Alumni

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Dongshin University announced on the 27th that the Department of Military Science (Department Head Ko Jaehwi) has launched a relay special lecture program inviting alumni to strengthen the capabilities of current students and boost their pride.

The first speakers of the relay special lecture were 2nd batch graduate Lieutenant Lee Seongho and 3rd batch graduate Second Lieutenant Kim Seongtae.

They held a Q&A session with juniors at the Together Hall in Da-jeong Building 3 of the university the day before, introducing the attitudes and qualities that university students should have to become officers needed in the field, categorized by academic year.

The special lecture was held four times, divided by academic year to prevent the spread of COVID-19, and Lieutenant Lee and Second Lieutenant Kim took special leave and visited their alma mater carrying snacks in both hands to meet with their juniors.

They encouraged their juniors, saying, “Keep in mind what kind of officer you want to become and how you will dedicate and serve the country, and use your strengths to become the best military experts.”

The love of Dongshin University’s Department of Military Science alumni for their juniors is very special. Earlier this year, they started a relay scholarship donation for juniors, and dozens of seniors have been sending video messages to motivate juniors who are exhausted due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

Since its launch in 2014, Dongshin University’s Department of Military Science has attracted attention by setting a new record with 100% of graduates from the 1st batch in 2018 to the 3rd batch this year commissioned as officers.

The officer acceptance achievements of current students are also a hot topic. For the 4th batch, currently seniors, all but one who changed career paths have been selected as officers, and the juniors have been selected 100% as officers. 96% of sophomores have already passed, and this year’s freshmen all live in dormitories and participate autonomously in the RC program to develop their capabilities.

Department Head Ko Jaehwi said, “Since seniors who are protecting the country on the front lines vividly convey their experiences from the field, the response from current students is very positive,” adding, “We plan to introduce innovative educational programs with the determination to make Dongshin University’s Department of Military Science the nation’s top officer training institution.”
