Democratic Party Gwangju Branch Urges "People Power Party" to Support 5·18 Bill Passage

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Party of the Democratic Party of Korea called on the People Power Party to sincerely join in, following the central party's adoption of the 5.18-related bills, the 'Historical Distortion Punishment Act' and the 'Special Act on Truth Investigation,' as party-legislative proposals.

On the 27th, the Democratic Party's Gwangju City Party stated in a commentary, "People Power Party's Emergency Committee Chairman Kim Jong-in and National Integration Committee Chairman Jung Woon-chun knelt and apologized while paying respects at the 5.18 Democratic Cemetery," adding, "If that act was not merely a 'planned show' to attract attention, the People Power Party should sincerely cooperate to ensure the swift passage of the 5.18-related bills."

They continued, "It is now time for the People Power Party to show sincerity rather than politics," emphasizing, "We hope they will act together so that the truth of the May 18, a history of democracy in the Republic of Korea, can be revealed and a just Blue May can be welcomed."
